07-08 Waterfowl Seasons announced!

Mississippi duck hunters will have a 60-day regular season with three segments under a plan approved by the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.

The three seasons:

Nov. 23-25.

Dec. 1-3.

Dec. 5-Jan. 27.

The first two splits were chosen to maximize weekend hunting opportunities for sportsmen, while leaving the bulk of the season to extend as deep into the migration period as allowed.

Federal guidelines dictate that Mississippi’s duck season end no later than the last Sunday in January (the 27th).

The daily limit is six ducks per hunter with the following species limits: no more than four mallards (no more than two of which may be females), three mottled ducks, two canvasbacks, two redheads, two one black duck, and one pintail.

A two-day youth weekend season will be Feb. 2-3 with the same limits.
Commissioners also set the goose seasons.

Canada goose and brant seasons will be Nov. 14 – 25 and Dec. 1-January 27.

Canada geese will have a three-bird daily bag limit and brant will have a daily bag limit of two birds.

Snow, blue, Ross’, and white-fronted goose seasons will be Nov. 12–25 and Dec. 1–Jan. 27. Snow, blue and Ross’ geese will have a daily bag limit of 20 birds.

White-fronted geese will have a daily bag limit of two birds.

In addition to the regular hunting season, there will again be a conservation order season for snow, blue, and Ross’ geese during the following dates: Oct. 1 – Nov. 11; and Nov. 26 – 30; Jan. 28 – Feb. 1; and Feb. 4 – March 31.
